1. Why is it when I get bids for painting the pricing is all over the place some high some low?
- Painting unfortunately is not a licensed Trade in the State of Ohio so it is even harder to determine legitimate painting contractors. So along with someone just not being qualified to handle your project professionally, there are many variables that can affect the pricing.
- Site conditions and amount of protection required to protect your existing surrounds
- How much thoroughness and preparation, preparation, preparation before painting
- Number of coats of paint figured to be applied and quality of paint
- How much attention to details and budgeted time to do the work properly. We still use many of the old world practices of vacuuming, tacking trim with tack clothes and straining our paints to achieve that quality job
- Professional customer services figured to make painless for the customer
- If color matching or selection is figured
- Amount of insurance the contractor carries for your protection
- Amount of job Safety the contractor follows
- We would be glad to go over the details of our bid so you could make a fair comparison.
2. What is the difference between a good paint job and a bad paint job?
- A good job is when:
- Existing property does not get damaged and if a accident does happen there are insurances in place to cover repair
- The painter has an extensive knowledge of the required techniques, proper materials and the skills to complete your project to your desired expectation
- A beautiful looking project with long lasting quality
- And finally no one was injured due to the safety measured followed
- A bad job would be more of a "quick once over" with out regards to your needs
3. Is it really important that your company carries insurance?
- We think it is so much that we carry three types of insurances to protect you
- Liability Insurance to protect you from any damages we may cause
- We are Bonded in case there were to be a stolen property, this is for your peace of mind
- We also carry Workers Compensation on our employee's incase they are injured on you property while working
- If you are thinking of hiring someone with out these insurances, you may want to check with you personal Insurance agent to see if you would be covered and at what cost
4. If I use a Brand name paints can I be assured it is a top quality?
- No, most paint companies have different grades of paint, usually a low grade, medium grade and a high grade
- The cost difference can be as much as $30.00 per gallon from low to high
- Obviously the durability and looks of the paints would differ
- So you could spec a top brand name paint company and still get their lowest grade of paint, not being what you had expected
- At Classic Papering & Painting, Inc. we work with many different companies, not just one for convenience, so as to purchase the best product for the surface we are painting. All paint manufacturers specialize with certain product. We purchase the best quality grade of paint unless the budget does not call for it or if we are requested to us another product
5. What is the advantage of going with a larger more establish painting Contractor?
- We work with usually 14 fulltime painters with the average years they have worked with the company being 10 years. We work hard to have a steady staff of trained craftspeople.
- We work with the "Lead Painter" system, with crew size from one to four depending on the size of the project. We keep the same crews together to build system for consistency and accuracy.
- With having a larger staff we are able to get to jobs sooner and be more flexible with scheduling when changes are made.
- Our craftspeople have different specialties, so we are able to put the right person for a specialized project on the job. Every job has it own special needs and we have the staff up for the challenge.
- Classic Papering & Painting, Inc. does many jobs that other paint companies do no have the skill or know how. With doing so many jobs in a year's time with so many years of service, our exposure to different challenges is great.
- We also will do any size job, not just the big jobs.
6. Once you start my project will you work consistent full days until complete?
- Yes, our crews do one project at a time working full days unless, conditions won't allow us to continue for the day, in witch case we will be back the next morning until your project is completed. Our goal is to get your job in a timely manor with as little inconvenience to you as possible.
7. Where does the most of Classic Papering & Painting, Inc. jobs come from?
- Over 60% of work comes from repeat customers and their referrals. We work hard to keep our customers respect; they are the back bone of our business. We go into every job not just for the job but to win over the customer, we want this to be a good experience for our customer. We are aware it is difficult having worker come into one environment, we want this to be as quick and painless as possible.
- Our marketing is to remind our customers of seasonal maintenance and specials.
8. It is just the exterior, is it really important to get a good quality paint job?
- Yes, in central Ohio we get such great extremes of weather that it can do much damage quick to your project. A cheap job usually does not have the proper prep, application or products. The lack of these items can be very expensive to correct if possible at all.
- Your outside has far more exposure to the environment than your interior, so proper procedures are a must.
9. What is you system for refinishing my cabinets and is less expensive than replacing?
- First of all, yes it is less expensive to paint, (even a Decorative Finish) then to replace. Depending on the quality of the replacement cabinets it is less than a half to a third. Painting is a good alternative if the existing cabinets are in good working order, functionally and are of a good design.
- Our system of finishing your existing cabinets is as follows:
- Most of the time the existing finish does not need stripped. We will go right over top of the existing.
- Doors, Drawers and loose panels will be labeled, removed and taken to our spray booth in our shop. There our full time shop finisher will prep and paint these items.
- On site we degloss, sand and prep the remaining boxes. If conditions are not such that we can spray we will brush these areas. We use paints that have good levelers and sand between coats to achieve a smooth surface.
- We than return the sprayed doors and drawers for installation.
- We have been using this system for over 15 years and have had great results.
10. Are we a fit for you?
- Our goal is to help you achieve your painting needs in a professional manor with the right products and techniques to give you a long lasting job, which relates to good value for your money, not having to repaint every couple years. Since 1991, our fulltime craftspeople have worked hard giving the best service we can to our customers in Central Ohio. This is not a side job or part time job for us; we take it seriously and will be there in the future if there is a problem.
- We come when we say and we will finish your project on time. We will do what we say.
- Our typical customer expects the job to be done right the first time without having to manage the job.
- We work very hard to keep our pricing in line by listening to what you want done and meeting your budget, but with our reputation of good service and quality work, we are not willing to short cut a job.
- Because of the above, you will more than likely see a difference in our bid as opposed to a nonprofessional fulltime painter. If you think it is just paint we are probably not for you.
